Hyundai equips 108 schools with clean drinking water in Maval, Pune

Hyundai
Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited
(HMIL), has successfully provided clean drinking water facilities to the
children in 108 government schools of Maval Taluka, Pune district. With a total
investment of Rs 2.10 crores, the initiative under the H2OPE Project reflects
HMIF's commitment to enhancing community well-being, safeguarding student
health and contributing to sustainable development goals guided by Section 19
of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 - which mandates the provision of
safe drinking water in schools.
The
official handover ceremony took place at the office of the Divisional
Commissioner, Pune, in the esteemed presence of Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief
Minister of Maharashtra, Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Divisional Commissioner -
Pune, Jitendra Dudi, District Collector -Pune, Gajanan Patil, CEO - Zilla
Parishad, Pune, Sandeep Singh Gill, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, Shyam
Kumar Singh – Function Lead, HMIL along with representatives from Zilla Parishad
schools, and other officials from Hyundai Motor India Limited.
The
intervention under this project have brought about a transformative change in
the selected schools and surrounding communities. Approximately 13,000 direct
and indirect beneficiaries including students, teachers, school staff, and
community members have been positively impacted. The project’s holistic
approach ensured both immediate and long-term improvements in school-level
drinking water infrastructure. These efforts have led to a wide range of
positive outcomes, including enhanced student health, increased school
attendance, improved hygiene practices, and the creation of a more engaging and
supportive learning environment.
Ajit
Pawar, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said, “For every child,
clean water is not just a necessity, it is their right. This generous
contribution from Hyundai Motor India Foundation will significantly enhance the
accessibility and quality of safe drinking water in rural government schools
across Maval Tehsil. This commendable initiative will help children focus on
studies, sports and their dreams without health concerns holding them back.”
